The Kynžvart Castle Festival will offer a programme for the whole family

Kynžvart State Castle invites visitors to its traditional Castle Festival, which will take place on Saturday 13 June from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. The all-day programme will offer entertainment for families with children, history lovers and visitors who wish to enjoy the unique atmosphere of one of the most significant aristocratic residences in western Bohemia.

The main attraction of this year’s festival will be entertaining dramatised costumed tours entitled ‘The Aristocracy on the Move’, which will transport visitors back to the era of aristocratic travels and social gatherings. The tours will depart at pre-arranged times and tickets are already available for purchase online. 

Children and families will also find plenty to enjoy. A treasure hunt through the castle park, “Metternich’s Journey Through Time”, has been prepared for them. Children can purchase a worksheet at the ticket office, which they will use to complete various tasks scattered throughout the park. A small reward will await them upon successful completion of the trail.
The programme will also include a festive mass in honour of St Anthony in the castle’s St Anthony’s Chapel, accompanied by a choir. Visitors can also look forward to a traditional craft fair, light refreshments and a varied supporting programme. There will be horse rides, theatre performances and the chance to take a ride in a vintage car.

Lovers of historical weapons and traditional skills will be delighted by the participation of archers from Mariánské Lázně, who will demonstrate their skills and also allow visitors to try their hand at archery under their supervision.

The Castle Festival will also take place alongside the nationwide Open Gardens Weekend event, which runs from 13–14 June. Visitors will thus have a unique opportunity to explore the extensive Kynžvart Castle Park, which is one of the largest historic castle parks in the Czech Republic and the second largest in Bohemia. Guided tours of the park, entitled “Under the Tree Canopies”, will take place at the scheduled times, during which visitors will learn more about the history, landscape design and significant trees of this extraordinary site.

Kynžvart Castle also invites visitors to other cultural events this season. During the summer months, they can look forward, for example, to the popular theatre performance *The White Lady’s Wedding*, the traditional Castle and Chateau Night, and a range of other cultural and social events.
