Talented young musicians and a photographic exhibition at the Chopin House

3.6.2026 | Events

The Chopin House is hosting a group exhibition Adventures with Photography by Slovak photographer Miro Švolík until mid-August. He is one of the most prominent representatives of Czechoslovak staged photography and one of the authors of the Slovak New Wave. His characteristic visual language, which blends humour, lightness and fantasy, will be presented in almost 60 photographs. In the exhibition at the Gallery, Atelier and SetKavárna, the theme of touch - the touch of thoughts, the kinship of souls, bodies, stories, experiences, birth and death - winds like an invisible thread. The June music programme at the Chopin House will certainly touch the souls of visitors as well.

It will open on Thursday 4 June at 7.30 pm in the Music Hall with a concert by the Ševčík Quartet, one of the most outstanding young ensembles of today. Since its formation in 2020, it has quickly gained attention for its energetic expression, stylistic maturity and extraordinary interplay. The ensemble consists of Pavla Tesařová, Michael Foršt, Matouš Hasoň and cellist Adam Klánský. The group has a number of successes to its credit - winning the Talents for Europe competition, reaching the semi-finals of the Prague Spring competition and final placements at international competitions. The ensemble is committed to the legacy of one of the most famous Czech violin teachers - Otakar Ševčík. Another exceptional young musician will pay tribute to his teachers in his final concert. Jaroslav Skalka, a native of Mariánské Lázně, will conclude his studies at the Fryderyk Chopin Primary School of Arts with a final recital at the Chopin House.
