The Jazz Spa music festival celebrates its 24th year and this year it will turn Mariánské Lázně into a centre of jazz events. From 20 to 26 June 2025, the spa town will resound with jazz in all its forms - the legend of Czech jazz Emil Viklický, the innovative Zabelov Group or the Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio will perform.
The festival will kick off on Friday, June 20, at 8 p.m. in the courtyard of the Chopin House with a concert by local band Dan Suchý, which brings energetic versions of blues-rock classics. Admission will be voluntary and the proceeds will go to the rescue of the Forest Mill - a popular venue where the festival has also been held in the past.
Traditionally, the colonnade concerts will always take place from 3pm - right after the Singing Fountain production.
On Saturday, June 21, the Zabelov Group, a duo that combines accordion, drums, electronics and vocal experiments, will perform at the colonnade. The concert will take place on the Magnesia Stage thanks to the cooperation with the Book Spa Festival.
On Sunday, 22 June, a band from Plzeň, The Dixie Hot Licks, will transport the audience to the golden era of jazz, reviving the atmosphere of the 1920s in the spirit of New Orleans Dixieland.
On Monday 23 June, one of the best Czech guitarists of today , Libor Šmoldas and his Organ Trio, will rock the colonnade, combining jazz, blues and funk of the 60s with the sound of the legendary Hammond B3 organ.
On Tuesday evening, 24 June, the Swing Melody Orchestra - a professional jazz band dedicated to the authentic interpretation of swing from the 1930s and 1940s - will perform in the courtyard of the Chopin House from 7.30 pm.
On Wednesday 25 June, the festival continues again from 15.00 at the colonnade with a concert by the Jazz Cakes band, which combines jazz standards with original arrangements of well-known hits.
The final concert of the festival will be a performance by the duo of pianist Emil Viklický and clarinettist Pavel Hrubý on Thursday 26 June at 7.30 pm in the music hall of the Chopin House. The legend of Czech jazz Emil Viklický in collaboration with Pavel Hrubý will present the project Between Us - a chamber dialogue of piano and bass clarinet connecting jazz with classical music and Moravian folk tradition.
