WBS: Three Forms of Romanticism (ABO 2)

The concert, entitled ‘Three Facets of Romanticism’, showcases the diverse facets of music from the first half of the 19th century — ranging from the playfulness and energy of opera, through virtuoso solo concertos, to deeply emotional symphonic music.

Rossini’s overture to the opera *The Barber of Seville* opens the evening with lightness, verve and distinctive melodies.

Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No. 1, performed by clarinettist Anna Paulová, is a work brimming with technical brilliance, lyricism and romantic mood.

The second half of the evening concludes with Schubert’s famous ‘Unfinished’ Symphony — music of extraordinary depth and emotion, which, even after almost two hundred years, remains one of the most powerful works in the Romantic repertoire.
