WBS: Inaugural concert by the new chief conductor (ABO 1)

Concert by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra

The ceremonial inauguration of Michaela Rózsa Růžičková as the new chief conductor of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra opens a programme comprising masterpieces from the symphonic repertoire of Antonín Dvořák and Johannes Brahms. The evening’s programme combines the energy and joy of Dvořák’s concert overture *Carnival* with the masterful compositional artistry of Brahms’s *Variations on a Theme by Haydn*, culminating in one of the most significant works in the cello repertoire — Dvořák’s Cello Concerto in B minor.

“We begin our shared journey with the grand symphonic works of Antonín Dvořák and Johannes Brahms – music of sweeping scope, magnificent sound and profound emotion. This evening invites you to an intense encounter with music in its fullest form. The presence of cellist Tomáš Jamník, one of the leading interpreters of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, lends the evening a special dimension.” – Michaela Rózsa Růžičková
