The Cheb Region Half-Timbered Farmstead in Milíkov

Farmstead No. 18 has the four-sided layout typical of the Cheb region. Its enclosed courtyard is surrounded by a residential building with stables, a barn, a shed and a separate cottage traditionally used by the retired farmer’s family. The oldest parts of the complex date from the late 18th century – the barn was built in 1781 and the shed in 1786. The farmstead is a valuable example of traditional half-timbered architecture and has been protected as a cultural monument since 2005.

The exhibition introduces visitors to everyday life and farming in the Cheb region from the second half of the 19th century onwards. Visitors can see period household furnishings, agricultural and craft tools, and many other objects connected with rural life. The exhibition also shows how the use of local farmsteads changed during the 20th century – from traditional farming through the transformations of the post-war period to their later use as holiday and weekend homes.

Surrounded by the countryside of the Slavkov Forest, the farmstead is an enjoyable destination for a day trip as well as a pleasant stop on the way between Mariánské Lázně and Cheb.
