WBS: Romeo and Juliet (ABO 3)

The concert features music brimming with emotion, dramatic stories and southern energy. The evening opens with Berlioz’s overture *The Roman Carnival*, which will enchant the audience with its liveliness and colour.

This is followed by selected arias from Charles Gounod’s opera *Romeo and Juliet*, performed by soprano Soňa Godarská and tenor Martin Šrejma — music inspired by the most famous love story in world literature.

The second half of the concert features a selection from Sergei Prokofiev’s ballet *Romeo and Juliet*, which combines powerful emotions, dramatic contrasts and lyrical moments.

The evening will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s spirited *Italian Capriccio*, inspired by the atmosphere of Italian streets, festivals and folk music.
