WSO: Baborák & Koska (ABO 4)

Concert by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra

The concert will bring together two exceptional Czech horn players — Radek Baborák and Mikuláš Koska — in a programme that will showcase the French horn in all its colour and expressive range. The evening will feature music from several stylistic periods, ranging from Baroque elegance through Classical drama to the melodic beauty of Czech music.

Telemann’s Double Concerto for Two French Horns will showcase the beauty and colour of this instrument in the lively and joyful music of the Baroque era.

Beethoven’s Variations on a British Hymn will offer a playful take on a familiar melody as well as scope for the virtuosity of both soloists.

Mozart’s Symphony No. 25 will bring dramatic energy and powerful emotion, whilst Dvořák’s concluding Czech Suite will fill the hall with melodies inspired by Czech folk music and the atmosphere of the countryside.
