King Edward's Trail

A recommended starting point is Dusíkova Street at the Nové Lázně. The trail will lead you from the town centre to the oldest golf course in Bohemia that was opened by King Edward VII of England himself in 1905. While walking the 5.7km-long trail which has an elevation difference of more than 200m you will see the Charles Cross erected by Abbot Karel K. Reitenberger, founder of the town. After passing Goethe's resting place you ascend to the Hamelika Lookout Tower. Behind the fence with red and fallow deer there is the Boheminium Park with miniature models of famous Czech buildings. The Art Nouveau hotel Krakonoš was a favourite destination for Edward's afternoon walks and later became known for the impressive sculpture of Krakonoš outside. From the golf course to the Koliba hotel you descend along the valley of the Pstruží Stream with its small idyllic lakes. Or you can take the cable car from the Krakonoš Hotel.
