WBS: MOZART & BEETHOVEN

Mozart's Overture to The Marriage of Figaro is short, but it literally sparkles with energy. From the first notes it hurtles forward at an incredible pace, creating a sense of joy, anticipation and slight confusion that suits the whole comic opera perfectly. Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1 feels like a musical conversation between piano and orchestra - at times solemn, at times gentle and singing, and finally playful and exuberant. There is a sense of a young Beethoven already doing things his own way. The excellent pianist Veronika Böhmová takes the solo part. The last piece of the evening will be Beethoven's Symphony No. 2which will surprise you with its optimism. Although he wrote it during a difficult period, it sounds fresh, joyful and full of energy. The ending, in particular, is stormy, lively and leaves the listener in a really good mood.
