The program of the concert entitled Fairy Tale refers to Josef Suk's four-movement suite of the same name, originally composed as incidental music for Julius Zeyer's dramatic fairy tale Radúz and Mahulena. Fairy Tale is one of Suk's most frequently performed works and has become a popular part of the Czech symphonic repertoire thanks to its lyrical yet dramatic character. During this concert, the renowned violin virtuoso and concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Jan Mráček, will perform in two roles – as conductor and violinist. He will showcase his violin skills in W. A. Mozart's Violin Concerto in G major, which will also feature the overture to his most famous opera, The Magic Flute.
