The Easter concert of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra is dedicated to the spiritual works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The central work of the program is Requiem in D minor, K. 626, the last composition of the composer's life, which Mozart wrote in 1791 but did not complete. The work was finished by his pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr and remains one of the most frequently performed sacred compositions ever. The program is complemented by Laudate Dominum from the Vesperae solennes cycle, composed in 1780 for Salzburg Cathedral. This part stands out for its simple, cantabile melody and contrasts with the dramatic character of the Requiem.
The concert will be performed by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra and the Hans-Sachs-Chor Nuremberg choir. The baton will be taken by conductor Guido Johannes Rumstadt, with solo parts performed by Michaela Katráková (soprano), Šárka Hrbáčková (alto), Martin Slavík (tenor), and Jan Ericsson (bass).
