Černý Petr (Black Peter)
Miloš Forman's debut feature is a gentle intergenerational comedy about a shy apprentice, Peter, who is assigned to watch out for thieves in a convenience store while coping with a strict father, a first love and the indiscriminate pranks of his friend Chenda. The film impresses with its authentic depiction of small-town life, natural dialogue and the civilian acting of the non-professional cast. Black Peter has become a symbol of the emerging new wave and has won numerous awards at home and abroad. In 2017, it was digitally restored and screened at the Venice Film Festival.
