COVID-19

The Czech Republic is under  general quarantine until April 1, 2020. This means a variety of restrictions for individuals as well as businesses.

  • All stores and services with the exception of grocery shops, drugstores, pharmacies, gas stations, newsstands and everyday household supplies are closed to the public.
Residents are required to abstain from leaving home unless they need to go to work, buy food and medicine, go to banks, post offices, or to the doctor.
  • To protect the population groups most at risk, the government has banned the presence in retail food stores from 8:00 to 10:00 of all persons other than senior citizens over the age of 65.
Public transport operates in holiday mode.
  • In all places outside the residence, it is ordered to wear the respiratory system protection (the nose and mouth), such as respirators, surgical masks, face masks, scarfs, shawls, etc., which prevent droplet spread. Visiting parks  is allowed on condition that social distancing is practised.
All restaurants, pubs, bars and similar facilities are closed to the public as well. The ban does not apply to off-premises sales, such as fast-food restaurants with a take-out window or the sale of takeaway food without entering the restaurant.
  • All public and private events are banned.
Monuments, museums, galleries, cinemas, sports arenas, cultural institutions, fitness centres, swimming pools, and other public facilities are temporarily closed.
    International travel restrictions
  • All foreign nationals are prohibited from entering the country. Similarly, Czech nationals and long-term and permanent residents are prohibited from leaving the country.  Service suppliers and cargo carriers will be granted an exception.
