Ice Stadium

History

The Ice Stadium opened for operation in 1975, at the same time that the roof was being installed. In 1981 (December 6), the snow on the roof was too heavy for its poor construction, and the roof collapsed. The Ice Stadium was re-opened in June of 1988.

Up until 2007, the stadium operated only from July to April. In June of 2007, the concrete subfloor for the ice was completely repaired, and the stadium is now open all year round.

During the summer, the Ice Stadium is used for international hockey schools, while during the year the Mariánské Lázně Hockey Team and Figure Skating Division practice there. It's also used for training camps for hockey teams from around the country as well as for concerts and other sporting events.

In 2005, an international hockey match between Belarus and Moscow's Dynamo was held here.

In July of 2006 and 2007, the stadium was used for training for hockey players preparing for the NHL season.
