Bronze memorial to J. W. Goethe

The original statue of Goethe sitting on a bench was unveiled on the 15th of May 1932 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death. Willy Russ of Krásno was its author. The statue was destroyed during the Second World War. After the war, there was a stone bearing a plaque installed on the original pedestal, stating that Goethe's statue had been standing there. Today's statue of Goethe, a masterpiece by the local sculptor Vítězslav Eibl, was placed on the original pedestal and unveiled in 1993.

Karel Kašpar Reitenberger

The statue of the abbot Karel Kašpar Reitenberger, standing at the colonnade near to the Singing Fountain, was unveiled on the 100th anniversary of his birth in 1879. Karel Kašpar Reitenberger (1779-1860) is considered the founder of Mariánské Lázně. His bronze larger-than-life-size statue, created by Professor Kundman of Vienna, stands on a richly decorated, textured pedestal of Swedish red marble made by the sculptor Erhard Ackermann of Weissenstadt (Bavaria). The statue was cast in bronze by Karl Turbarin. There is a Latin inscription on the pedestal reading, besides personal data, the following: „He recognized the curative power of the springs and opened them to the ill, and therefore he rightly deserves to be called the founder of the town “.

Nehr's bust

Nehr's bust can be seen in the column hall of the Cross Spring pavilion. Mariánské Lázně owes a debt to the lifelong and unflagging efforts of Dr. Josef Nehr (1752 – 1821) for its establishment. The bust was unveiled thanks to the support of the local doctor A. Danzer in 1857. Nehr's bust is the work of Emanuel Max of Prague and was cast in bronze by Burgschmid of Regensburg.

Bust of Václav Skalník

The bust of Václav Skalník was unveiled in 1962. Václav Skalník (1779 – 1861) was the designer of the local parks. As the mayor of Mariánské Lázně, he succeeded in transforming the town from an unknown locale into an international spa resort.

Bust of Professor Samuel Basch

The bust of Professor Samuel Basch was unveiled in 1930. During the Second World War, the bust was destroyed because of Professor Basch's Jewish origins, and used for war purposes. It was unveiled again on October 9, 1987.

Heidler's Monument

Heidler's Monument is an obelisk on a high pedestal which was donated as a gift to Dr. Karel Heidler by Polish guests in 1858. Dr. Heidler worked in Mariánské Lázně in the years 1818 – 1858.

Chopin memorial

Visitors may see this memorial in a park across from [A5] the "Casino" Cultural House. It was originally created to commemorate Walter von der Vogelheide, a German „minnesängr“, in 1930. Today's memorial is represented by a boulder bearing a medallion of Chopin's head, a masterpiece by the sculptor Otáhal from 1960. The text, of course, commemorates Frederic Chopin.

Millennium Memorial

The original memorial, called Franzensstein, was created in the 1st half of the 19th century. The Millennium Memorial was unveiled on the remaining cornerstone on December 31, 1999. The architect Zdeněk Franta conceived the work, while the sculptor Stanislav Junek of Zádub carried it out.

Goethe and a Muse

This is a masterpiece by the sculptor Professor Heindrich Drake of Berlin. It was given as a gift to Mariánské Lázně by the East German government in 1975. The statue of the woman does not represent Goethe's love Ulrika, but is a symbol of poetic inspiration.

Memorial to Václav Beneš Třebízský

The Memorial to Václav Beneš Třebízský is hidden among rhododendrons. It commemorates the writer and priest Třebízský (1849 – 1884) and the last days of his life, which were spent here. At the time, he was acknowledged as the most popular Czech writer. Třebízský underwent treatment in Mariánské Lázně for the first time in 1873, and later in June 1884, since he suffered from tuberculosis. He succumbed to the disease on the 20th of June, 1884 in the nearby Villa Moskau, today named "Třebízský House" and bearing his memorial plaque. A house, street and also a brook have been named in honor of this outstanding personage.
