Rudolph Spring

The Rudolph Spring

An earthy ferrous mineral water with lower mineral content, high in calcium.

History:

Marianske Lazne's fame as a Spa Destination for the treatment of diseases of the urinary tract comes from the Rudolf Spring. Rudolf Spring water can be taken directly in the wooden pavilion and it is also stored and pumped by pipe from a pumping station to the spa to the drinking pavilion at the Colonnade and to mineral water bottling facilities, where it is bottled. The waters from the "old" Rudolf spring are used in drinking therapies and for bottling and Rudolf Springs I and II are used for batheing.

Location:

Rudolf Spring Colonnade in Úšovice

Open:

Daily 6.30 - 17.00

How was the spring named:

The Rudolph spring flowed out in a meadow in Úšovice. The owner of the meadow was a local farmer, who refused to sell the land to the monastery, even for more than it was worth and he didn't even want to do anything with the spring himself. The monastery bought the ajoining property and drilled a hole through to the spring. In 1902, Rudolf was again tapped and connected to other smaller springs in the area. It was then named after the crown prince to Franz Joseph I. - Rudolph (1858 - 1889).

Rudolf Spring Pavilion

In 1902, the spring was tapped anew and a wooden pavilion which stands till this day was built over it. Mineral water is carried away by pipe to the Cross Pavilion and to the Karolina Spring.
