Natural Park at Prelátův Spring

Transportation connection: on foot, by bicycle

At the edge of the town of Mariánské Lázně, in a spot where the park leads into the forest, lies a picturesque meadow through which a little creek full of granite rocks flows, while two ponds complete the magic of the spot. A spring was discovered in this place years ago, named Prelátův, and it's from this spring that this little piece of nature gets its name.

History

In the fall of 2004, the civic association „Hravý Pramen“ (playful spring) was founded with the goal of regenerating the natural park around Prelátův Spring and eventually building a children's playground here, tying into the tradition of enjoying this spot as a pleasant place to spend free time.

Gradually, attractions for children were added to the park, including decorative elements from natural materials that respected the uniqueness of this Prelátův Spring park environment. The first children's attraction in the park, the Rope Park, was mostly funded by the town of Mariánské Lázně, just like the Water World. All other attractions and decorative elements in the park, just like lesser parts of the Rope Park and Water World have been financed and arranged by the members of the Playful Spring civic association, by donations and gifts of materials and finances, by the work of friends and supporters of the park at Prelátův Spring, as well as help from the children themselves.

Every year in June, the Playful Spring association holds a traditional „Indian Day“ for children in the park and immediate surroundings. There are also contests for seniors in the Mariánské Lázně retirement home. In April of 2006, the children's playground at Prelátův Spring became the subject of diploma work for the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles' University.

The „Hravý Pramen“ civic association is made up of Alena Doležalová, Pavel Graca, and Miroslav Štěpánek.
