Doctor Nehr builts the first spa house
In 1804 doctor Nehr,52 years old,decided to built the first spa house. He chose a building loft among the cabins of the first loggers. In 1808 the house was finished and the first spa season had 80 visitors. The lack of accommodation facilities caused dissatisfaction of the visitors.They had to bring food for all their stay and even their own bed.Cabins and Nehr´s house were overcrowded and some people even slept in the lofts.
Still in the year 1808 the abbot Pfrogner promoted building of the spa house near the Mary´s spring (Old Spa).The house had 5 rooms and 8 bathrooms and it was called Traiteurhaus.
In 1810 he let built another spa house with 16 cabins and ten rooms.
When in 1827 New Spa was built by Reitenberger the upper spa building was called Old Spa,now Central Spa.
The settlement wich was called „Na kyselce“ (Auf d´Saling) was given the official name Mariánské Lázně in 1808.
