Spa Colonnade

Neo- Baroque Colonnade - The Main Colonnade

Neo baroque colonnade was let built by the abbot of Teplá monastery (1888-1889) on the original ground plan of „kursal“ (119 x12 m). It was constructed by a local builder Johann Koenig according to a project of Wienna architects Miksche and Niedzielsky. Its cast-iron construction was made in the machinery in Blansko which belonged to prince Salma.

The colonnade is a historical monument of the Czech spa treatment, a rare example of a period building which used to be typical for our and abroad spa towns and were destroyed or modernized during the period of time.

Local colonnade survived.It was reconstructed between 1973 – 1981 and the process of reconstruction changed in  complete modernization of all the walk between  Cross and Carolina springs.The collection of ceiling fresco paintings with motives of A desire of a man to fly is a masterpiece of the painter Josef Vyleťal, bronze reliefs on the walls of the walk were created by Antonín Kuchař.
